SWPONL Daisy Award

SWPONL is proud to be part of DAISY’s international community of Supportive Associations and champion the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for Service. This award recognizes nurses making an impact in the nursing profession outside of their paid job.

What is a DAISY Award?

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem. The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes as a way to honor the nurses that provided quality and compassionate care to Patrick during the final stages of his battle with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP).

Nominate a fellow nurse if they meet the following criteria:

    • A licensed registered nurse (RN) or nursing student in good standing.
    • Demonstrates meaningful contributions to the nursing profession outside of their primary paid employment role through volunteerism, advocacy, mentorship, education, community outreach, or professional involvement.
    • Actively engages in activities that strengthen the nursing community at the local, regional, national, or global level.

NOTE:

    • Nominee does not need to be a SWPONL member.
    • Current members of the selection committee (SWPONL Board of Directors) are not eligible to receive the award during their term of service.

Nominations are due Monday, August 3 by 11:59 PM ET.

The award recipient will be recognized at the SWPONL 2026 Annual Conference and will receive:

      • The Healer's Touch sculpture
      • One-year SWPONL membership
      • Framed certificate
      • Complimentary registration to the SWPONL 2026 Annual Conference
